Next time you make up a dish of pasta try adding 1/4 tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves of garlic to the water when cooking, then coat with a light butter sauce before sprinkling with crushed fresh basil leaves for a delicious garlic butter side dish.  Also using stock water such as chicken or beef stock to cook your pasta in rather then water offers it a wonderful flavor enhancement.  As pasta is excellent for soaking up flavors around it, try making cool summer salads by soaking your cooked pasta in lemon or orange juice washes before draining, adding fresh garden vegetables and either adding a light vinaigrette or a sweetened dressing made of sugar and juice drenched over top with crushed mint folded in.
